Caring for elderly relative in Hungary
In some
families, a person needs daily care, and a family member takes care of them at
home. In Hungary, this kind of care is very valuable, and the caregiver may
receive financial support called "ápolási díj" (care
allowance).
General
conditions:
·
The
caregiver must be an adult family member (relative).
·
The person
being cared for must need continuous and long-term home care due to illness or
disability.
·
The
caregiver must not receive the Child Home Care Allowance (GYOD) for the same
person.
·
The
caregiver usually cannot work full-time (in most cases, max. 4 hours/day).
Who counts
as a relative?
·
Spouse,
parent, child (including adopted or foster), sibling, grandparent, grandchild,
stepchildren, and partner (even if not married).
·
Also
includes in-laws (e.g., the spouse of your sibling)
