Tax Exemption for Young People Under 25 in
Hungary
Since
January 1, 2022, young people under the age of 25 have been eligible for a
special tax exemption in Hungary. This means that they do not have to pay
personal income tax (SZJA) on certain types of income, up to a specific limit.
This tax
relief can make a significant difference in the income of young workers and
students who are just starting their careers.

How Much
Tax Can You Save?
In 2022,
the maximum monthly tax-free income for under-25s was HUF 433,700, which meant
HUF 65,055 in monthly tax savings.
In 2025,
this monthly limit is HUF 576,601 (updated figure), meaning even more income is
tax-free.
If you earn
more than this limit in one month, only the income above the limit will be
taxed at 15%.
