Charity Organizations

Charity organizations are there to provide immediate help for people who need it.

  1. Hungarian Red Cross

Operating at several places within Hungary, HRC supports refugees through 40 programs. In addition to providing accommodation, food, clothing and hygiene kits, HRC also provides health care, psychosocial assistance, access to educational opportunities, legal and child protection support, as appropriate, and occasionally cash assistance through the IFRC CVA programme in many parts of the country.


Tracing Service:

HRC operates a tracing service to help anyone find family members separated as a result of

wars, armed conflicts, political persecution or natural disasters.

2. Hungarian Baptist Aid


Since the first day of the war in Ukraine, Hungarian Baptist Aid has been working to care for the refugees who have fled the war. They cooperate with international organizations and members of the Charity Council, the largest aid organizations in Hungary. They renovated a shelter for refugees coming from Ukraine and have been operating it ever since.

They also work through general anti-trafficking activities ranging from the prevention of trafficking to the assistance of those who fell victim to it.

3. Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta


One of the biggest charity organization in Hungary has been providing support for refugees since 2015 mainly in Serbia at the border, but also extending their activity in Budapest. 

As part of our "Caring Escort 2.0" they have a labour market counselling office in Budapest, Népszínház Street, which is open 8 hours a day, Monday to Thursday, for interested third-country nationals looking for work. In addition, their organisation provides substantial resources for the day-to-day and ongoing medical and integration support for refugees who have already been recognised as refugees or beneficiaries of protection. Currently, they provide various livelihood support to around 10 people, mainly in Budapest.
