Mol Bubi Bikes operated by BKK provide a great alternative to public transportation.
The best bicycles to share are the MOL BUBI-bicycles. They belong to BKK (public transportation in Budapest). They have green colour and you can find them in many parts of the city, there are 197 stations at the moment. If you want to use them, you have to download an application, which can be switched to English. The steps are easy: registration, pickup, park, return. In the app you can find all the stations.
About the prices: a monthly pass costs 1000 HUF, where the first 30 minutes of each ride started is free and for continuous rides over 30 minutes, a fee of 40 HUF will be charged for each minute started. An annual pass costs 8500 HUF/year, and again the first 30 minutes of each ride started is free and for continuous rides over 30 minutes, a fee of 40 HUF will be charged for each minute started. There is no limit how many times you can use the MOL bubies every day. Monthly and yearly passes are only available if you have an address card in Hungary (you are a resident).
If you do not reside in Hungary, you can use the “Pay as you go” opportunity, where a fee of 40 HUF is charged for each minute started. The 120 HUF bankcard registration fee includes the price of the first 3 minutes of your very first ride after card registration. If you do not reside in Hungary (that is, if you live abroad), you can use only this fare.
