General introduction

This article is about family support benefits available to those raising children.

This article is about family support benefits available to those raising children.

These are:

·       Infant care fee (CSED)

·       Child care fee (GYED)

·       Child care allowance (GYES)

·       Child raising support (GYET)

It is important to note that these supports are not provided all at once, but one after another and their amount decreases as the child grows. If you have more than one children, it is naturally possible that you may be entitled to different types of benefits at the same time.

The family support benefits can be claimed in the following order:

1.       CSED: Paid during maternity leave, for a maximum of 24 weeks, starting no earlier than four weeks before the expected date of birth.

2.       GYED: Available until the child is two years old (three years old for twins).

3.       GYES: Paid until the child is three years old (or until school age for twins).

4.       GYET: Only available for families with three or more children, until the youngest child turns 8 or the oldest child reaches adulthood.

These family support benefits can be divided into two categories: insurance-linked benefits (CSED, GYED) and non-insurance-linked benefits (based on subjective right) benefits (GYES, GYET).

I.  Insurance-linked benefits

The basis for CSED and GYED is the social security contribution (TB/TAJ card), so its payment is tied to the insurance relationship.
